Seoul City Cracks Down on Dogs |
January 14, 2001 Seoul, Korea Beginning the week of January 26, 2001, Seoul City will institute an aggressive crackdown on stray dogs. For a one-year period, the city government will round up dogs found in municipal areas and dispose of them within 10 days if they are not claimed by owners. "We plan to give dogs that are not retrieved by their owners to veterinarian colleges for academic research," an official said.

The city believes that this new policy will reduce the spread of certain diseases as well as the number of automobile accidents. Last year over 2,000 dogs were collected. §§§ |
